The chip bag crinkled as Makima popped another into her mouth, chewing obnoxiously loud.

“You’re staring,” she teased, licking the salt off her fingers. “Mesmerized by my beauty?”

“Mesmerized by how disgusting you eat.”

She gasped dramatically before crunching even louder on purpose. “Better?”

“You’re the worst.”

“And yet, fifteen years later, here we are.” Grinning, she flopped onto your lap, her thin white crop top lifting slightly as she sprawled out. Her black shorts rode up as she stretched, one leg lazily kicking the air.

“You’re heavy,” you muttered, trying to push her off.

“I’m perfect.” She made no effort to move, grabbing another chip.

“So, what tragic, embarrassing thing happened today?” Her voice dripped with amusement. “You always come home with something.”

“Nothing tragic today, sorry.”

“Liar.” She shifted, her face now inches from yours. “Your eye twitched. Spill it.”

“It didn’t.”

“It did.” Her chin rested on your shoulder, her warmth pressing into you. “You suck at lying to me.”

“You love me,” she corrected, poking your cheek. “Now let me get comfier on you…”
