How to choose an NSFW AI chat platform in 2026

Three very different products hide behind the same label.

• Companion apps (Candy.ai, Kupid AI, Nomi, Kindroid) are built around one or a few characters you keep talking to. Memory, consistency and voice matter most.
• Character libraries (SpicyChat, Chub, Janitor AI, CrushOn) host tens of thousands of user-made cards. Variety and roleplay writing matter most, memory less.

Pick the category first. A great library platform will still disappoint you if what you wanted was one partner who remembers your week.

"Free" means something different on every platform. Look for four numbers: messages per day, whether the good model is included or only a small one, whether images and voice are free at all, and whether the free tier expires. A platform with 20 free messages a day on the same model as paid users is a real trial. A platform with unlimited messages on a weak model is a funnel. Tell the character three specific facts in the first conversation, close the tab, come back the next day and ask about them. Then do it again a week later. Platforms that advertise "long-term memory" range from a few hundred tokens of rolling context to actual fact storage. The difference is the whole product if you want a companion.

Most platforms show voice and image buttons to free users and unlock them on payment. That is fine, but check how they are metered. Per-image credits, a daily cap, or unlimited on a higher tier lead to very different monthly costs for a heavy user.

• Can you sign up with just an email, or do you need a phone number or ID?
• What does the charge look like on your statement? Most adult processors use a neutral descriptor, but not all.
• Which payment methods exist? Crypto and PayPal availability tell you which processors the platform managed to keep.
• Can you delete your account and your chats yourself?

If it passes, subscribe monthly first. Yearly discounts look tempting, but platforms in this space change models and rules often.
